The Ultimate High Fibre Bread

We have had poop porridge and now we have poop bread! As Naturopaths and Nutritionists, we are obsessed with people’s digestive health and bowel motions – without a happy elimination system everything is affected! hormones, microbiome, skin health, immune health even mood! This recipe has a blend of soluble and insoluble fibre – meaning that not only does it help eliminate the bowels it also supports the elimination of excess hormones and other toxins which are trying to make their way out of the body.

This recipe is incredibly easy to make, you can use it as a base and add in different flavours for what you are in the mood for. Best of all the ingredients were found in my pantry; most likely this will be the same situation for you too! the ingredients are very simple, the recipe is simple and it only takes five minutes to put together.

I N G R E D I E N T S

1 cup of whole linseeds / flaxeeds (I used gold linseeds but brown will also work)
1/3 cup psyllium husks (use the whole husk not psyllium powder)
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 tablespoon caraway seeds
1/2 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 and 1 /4 cup of warm water

M E T H O D

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius

  1. Into a food processor add the linseeds, psyllium husks, caraway seeds and salt. process until a fine crumb.
  2. Place the linseed meal into a mixing bowl and add in the sesame seeds. mix well.
  3. Add the warm water into the bowl and mix well. use your hands to shape into your desired shape and into the oven for 30-40 minutes until the outside is nice and crusty.
  4. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before slicing
  5. Enjoy straight away, this is best enjoyed fresh

This recipe would work perfectly for rolls as well
