Cacao Super Elixir

The rain pitter-patters outside, the blanket is knitted and cozy, the movie is playing and the evening is early… all the perfect things for a quiet night in – expect you are missing one thing; this Cacao Super Elixir warming on the stove and a gorgeous mug to sip it out of.

Cacao is not a new ingredient, but it is one that will forever be enjoyed and admired (even if that’s only by me). It is a powerhouse of antioxidants, minerals and nutrients. When we eat and enjoy it, it makes us happy and encourages nostalgia.

Medicinal mushrooms; such as reishi, have been used amongst different cultures for centuries. They boast an array of benefits; with stress support and immune support on the list. Mushrooms tend to have a bitter strong taste which pairs deliciously with cinnamon and honey.

I N G R E D I E N T S 

1.5 cups of nut milk (almond, coconut, cashew, macadamia all work here)
1/2 tablespoon organic cacao powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1/8 teaspoon organic reishi powder
honey or maple syrup to your preference
tiny pinch of macrobiotic salt

M E T H O D 

  1. Over a low heat and in a small saucepan warm all the ingredients.
  2. Continue to stir to combine ingredients
  3. Once warm, remove from heat – add to a stunning mug and sip slowly
